So this is my first recording live from the farm. I've just put the hens to bed so I just make sure that they're all in the chicken coop and locked in. Collected the eggs, we had eight today and whilst I was waiting for them to go to bed I saw this enormous hare run across the paddock. It was huge, I'm just having a look now to see if I can spot it but I think it's disappeared.
So you can probably hear all the birds singing, the sun has gone down, it's not dark, I didn't need my head torch but it's dark enough for the hens to go to bed. There's a new calf in the cow shed that was born I think on about Wednesday. It's a very light brown, almost like a fawn colour, very sweet. I'm trying to think of a name for it, I like to name them all, just makes it a bit easier to identify them.
I can hear an owl in the distance, you often hear owls around here just hooting. We haven't got many sheep here at the minute, we've got four sheep in the shed, they belong to another farmer, they're just here for a while. One of them is being fed extra because it's pregnant and it just, I think it's a bit on the thin side, so it's getting extra feed.
There are lots of daffodils, the hedges have all been cut so they're quite low at the minute. The hawthorn hedge has been laid all round the chicken run now so that looks really good and it gives us a better view across the fields. But yeah, it's quite busy out here actually, all the birds, there are some crows in the trees. I can hear some music in the distance as well. I don't know what it is, it must be a party or something.
So yeah, that's the early evening report from the farm. So I shall be back again soon and I'll tell you a bit more about the sheep and go and see the calf, see what he's up to and tell you a bit about our everyday life on the farm. Bye for now.
